Focusing on the "Why" Questions at the Heart of Christian Life
On Friday, October 20, this year’s confirmation class and Reverend Paulo attended shabbat services at Acton’s Congregation Beth Elohim (“House of God”). During the service, we got to see what was very different (singing in Hebrew from a book that reads from back to front) and what was similar to how we worship at ACC (praying for those in need). If you see a confirmand, ask them what they thought.
After the service we had grape juice, challah, lots of delicious cookies, and good conversation with members of the congregation. (I met a nun who converted to Judaism after meeting her husband.) Then Rabbi Braham let us go back to get a closer look at one of the temple’s 200-year-old Torah scrolls and answered more questions—questions are a big part of confirmation! We’re already looking forward to our visit on November 19 at 4 p.m. with our sister church in Jamaica Plain, Iglesia Hispana de la Comunidad. You’re welcome to come too—feel free to reach out to any of us for more information.
