More about Rev. Matt

We welcome Rev. Matt Carriker to worship on Sunday, August 18th! Rev. Matt is an ordained United Church of Christ pastor serving Agape Spiritual Community in Waltham, MA and United Parish of Auburndale in Newton, MA. 

Matt finds joy in leading mindfulness and contemplative practices opportunities in the Waltham community and in the church at large. Through the SNEUCC, Matt co-facilitates confirmation, youth retreats, and adult spiritual formation retreats. The title of his newly released book is “Giving Christianity back to Agape Love.” 

Rev. Matt Carriker earned his Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School in 2009. He is a graduate of the Life Education Program of the ReCreation Foundation, inspired by Neale Donald Walsch's Conversations with God, and is trained in the Mindful Schools curriculum for teaching mindfulness to children and youth. Matt is a Certified Meditation Teacher through the Ananda School of Yoga and Meditation, as well as a trained spiritual counselor and life coach, currently working towards accreditation as an ICF (International Coaching Federation) coach.

His spiritual journey has been shaped by many teachers of unconditional love, including Paramhansa Yogananda, Swami Kriyananda, Asha Nayaswami, Nayaswamis Jyotish and Devi Novak, Mirabai Devi, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Neale Donald Walsch.
