Learn More About the Fascinating History of Your Favorite Holiday Carols
On Sunday morning, Dec. 31, at the 9:30 am service, Liz Carley, our organist and Coordinator of Music, will present a program with lots of carol singing (by you!) and lots of fun facts (by Liz)!.
Which carol was composed because of “technical difficulties?”
Which carol is about someone who was murdered?
Which carol has been “sanitized” to remove unpleasant references?
Which carol has pagan images?
Which beloved Christmas carol is not a Christmas carol at all, but an Advent carol?
Who started the tradition of carol singing…and when? Under what circumstances?
Where did the word “carol” come from?
There will be no bulletin and no prelude on December 31. There will be a Deacon in attendance. We will just get together and learn something about our favorite carols… we’ll sing up a storm and have fun.
Won't you join us for this special event to wrap up the celebrations of December!
