Missions

Basic Needs

ACC financially supports the following organizations providing physical and basic needs to people.

  • Acton Community Supper (www.actoncommunitysupper.org), a food pantry and clothing closet for those in need in Acton and the neighboring towns.
     
  • Acton Emergency Fuel Assistance Fund, a fund which helps Acton residents of all ages in need of financial assistance pay their energy bills.
     
  • Back Bay Mission Biloxi, Mississippi (www.thebackbaymission.org), a community ministry of the UCC, which is still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. The mission provides emergency assistance, runs a thrift shop and food pantry. They host over 300 work campers who rehab homes each year for the poor and disadvantaged citizens of the area.
     
  • CROP Walk, a fundraiser which raises money to fight hunger. Our Junior High Youth Fellowship walks in the Concord CROP Walk, one of 2000 CROP Walks across the country sponsored by Church World Service, a ministry of the National Council of Churches of Christ.
     
  • Habitat for Humanity, North Central Mass. (www.ncmhabitat.org), an organization which helps low-income families in need of shelter, to build their own houses in a cooperative effort with volunteers, as well as helping them to purchase these homes with a no-interest mortgage.
     
  • Habitat for Humanity, International (www.habitat.org), a worldwide program which helps low income families in need of shelter to build their own houses in a cooperative effort with volunteers and purchase these homes with a no-interest mortgage.
     
  • Household Goods Recycling of Massachusetts (www.hgrm.org), an organization based in Acton which accepts and distributes donated recycled household goods available at no charge to needy individuals and families from Acton and the surrounding areas. It is supported entirely by donations and volunteers.
     
  • Rosie’s Place (www.rosiesplace.org), a shelter which provides a safe and nurturing environment to poor and homeless women in Boston. They receive food, job training, and career counseling.
